Jurgen Klopp Has Dropped Liverpool Return Hint Amid Crushing Palace Defeat

Jurgen Klopp has dropped a Liverpool return amid his former side’s huge struggles under Arne Slot.

Liverpool in Crisis: Slot Under Pressure After Sixth Defeat in Seven as Klopp Return Talk Grows

Liverpoolโ€™s nightmare run continued on Wednesday night as the reigning Premier League champions suffered a sixth defeat in seven games, crashing out of the Carabao Cup with a 3โ€“0 loss to Crystal Palace at Anfield โ€” their third defeat to the Eagles this season.

A brace from Ismaila Sarr and a strike from Yeremy Pino heaped further pressure on Arne Slot, whose side were comfortably beaten in front of a frustrated home crowd.

Slot made several changes to his line-up, handing senior debuts to Freddie Woodman and Kieran Morrison, while 18-year-old substitute Amara Nallo endured a nightmare cameo, being sent off for the second consecutive match for Liverpool after also seeing red against PSV last season.

The defeat extends a miserable spell for the Reds, whose only victory in their last seven outings was a 5โ€“1 Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt. With upcoming fixtures against Aston Villa, Real Madrid, and Manchester City, the pressure on Slot is only intensifying.

Liverpool Board Remain Fully Behind Slot

Despite the poor form, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpoolโ€™s hierarchy remains unwavering in its support for Slot.

โ€œInside Liverpool โ€” and by that I mean the ownership, the board, and everyone running the club โ€” there is complete belief in Arne Slot,โ€ Romano revealed.
โ€œThey are 100 percent convinced he is the right manager to handle this situation. Communication between Slot and the clubโ€™s top brass remains very good on a daily basis.โ€

Slot, who led Liverpool to the Premier League title in his debut season, has endured a difficult second campaign as he attempts to integrate new signings and rebuild confidence in the squad.

Klopp Opens Door โ€” Slightly โ€” to Possible Liverpool Return

Meanwhile, some sections of the Liverpool fanbase have begun calling for the return of Jรผrgen Klopp, the legendary manager who delivered the clubโ€™s sixth European crown and its first league title in 30 years before stepping down in 2024, citing exhaustion.

During a recent appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast with Steven Bartlett, Klopp was asked whether he would ever consider returning to Anfield โ€” and his answer has sparked fresh debate.

โ€œI said I will never coach another team in England,โ€ Klopp explained.
โ€œThat means if itโ€™s Liverpool โ€” yeah, theoretically. I donโ€™t even know exactly what it would take to return.
I love what Iโ€™m doing right now. I donโ€™t miss coachingโ€ฆ not standing in the rain for hours, or press conferences three times a week.
But if I do something, I must be 100 percent focused on it.โ€

If Klopp were to return, he would follow in the footsteps of Kenny Dalglish, who famously had two spells as Liverpool manager โ€” his second coming between 2011 and 2012.

For now, Klopp appears content in his current role as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull, where he enjoys a more relaxed, strategic position away from the touchline.

A Defining Week Ahead

Liverpool will hope to steady the ship when they host Aston Villa on Saturday night at Anfield (8 p.m. kick-off), before facing Real Madrid in a high-stakes Champions League clash on Tuesday.

Slotโ€™s men then travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City on November 9, in what could be a decisive week for both his credibility and Liverpoolโ€™s season.
