I am not happy” – Liverpool star admits his concern after win against Aston Villa

Mo Salah Sends a Message After Liverpool’s Win: “I’m Not Happy With This Start”

Following Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa at Anfield, Mohamed Salah struck a reflective tone in his post-match comments — expressing concern over what he called a “tricky” start to the Premier League season.

The Egyptian forward was on the scoresheet once again, marking his 250th goal for the club, but despite the personal milestone, Salah made it clear that both he and the team are capable of much more.

“I am not happy with this start to the season,” Salah told reporters after the match, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“It’s a tricky season for us because we have a few new players. They’re very good signings, but they need time to adapt to the team.”

Salah’s Standards Remain Sky-High

Even after a commanding performance against Villa, Salah’s comments reflect his relentless drive for improvement — one of the key traits that has defined his Liverpool career.

The Reds had endured four straight Premier League defeats before the win, losing ground in the title race and sitting seven points behind Arsenal.

New arrivals Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz have faced early criticism, while summer signings Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez are still adjusting to the demands of playing under Arne Slot at Anfield.

Salah, however, urged patience and unity as the squad continues to gel.

“We just need time to adapt and know each other’s games,” he added.
“Everything will be fine.”

A Call for Higher Standards

Salah’s words echo those of Arne Slot, who recently emphasized that Liverpool’s rebuild under his leadership is a process — one requiring consistency and trust.

The victory over Villa was a much-needed boost, but the message from Liverpool’s talisman was clear: the job is far from done.

Salah expects nothing less than the highest standards from himself and his teammates — and that hunger could prove vital as Liverpool look to reignite their Premier League campaign.
