Manchester United player ratings: Assessing Amorim’s side after a thrilling 2–2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur
Bryan Mbeumo delivered Manchester United’s standout performance of the afternoon, but his strong display wasn’t enough to secure all three points as the Red Devils were held to a dramatic draw against Spurs. Ruben Amorim made three changes to his starting XI, bringing in Harry Maguire, Noussair Mazraoui, and Patrick Dorgu for Leny Yoro, Diogo Dalot, and Benjamin Sesko.
United struck first through Mbeumo, who headed home from close range after a superb cross by Amad Diallo — a move that began with clever interplay from Matheus Cunha. Aside from the goal, the first half lacked intensity from both sides.
Tottenham emerged much sharper after the break, forcing Senne Lammens into a pair of excellent saves, while Brennan Johnson had a goal chalked off for offside. Their persistence eventually paid off when Mathys Tel found room in the area to draw his side level.
Late in stoppage time, Richarlison seemed to complete Spurs’ comeback with a powerful header to make it 2–1. But United refused to fold, and Matthijs De Ligt produced a dramatic equaliser at the death to snatch a point.
Player Ratings
Senne Lammens – 6
Shaky in the early stages and conceded a needless corner, but improved as the match went on. Made important saves — especially from Romero — and had little chance with either goal.
Matthijs De Ligt – 8
A commanding presence throughout. Strong defensively and delivered when it mattered most with a last-minute header to rescue the draw.
Harry Maguire – 6
Dependable for much of the game, dealt well with Kolo Muani, and offered stability at the back before being forced off due to injury.
Bryan Mbeumo – 8
United’s liveliest attacker, opening the scoring and consistently unsettling Spurs’ defence with his pace, movement, and direct play.
Amorim’s side showed admirable fight to earn a point, but lingering concerns remain regarding their ability to maintain defensive focus in the closing stages of matches.
