Nuno Mendes drops truth bomb about PSG future amid Man United links

Nuno Mendes Shuts Down PSG Exit Rumours Amid Manchester United Links

Fans hoping to see Nuno Mendes in Manchester United red will have to put those dreams on hold.

The Portuguese full-back has put an end to persistent transfer speculation by confirming that he’s staying at Paris Saint-Germain — and he couldn’t sound more content in the French capital.

Mendes has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with United reportedly monitoring him for over a year as Erik ten Hag and, more recently, Ruben Amorim continue to seek stability at left-back.

However, the 23-year-old has now made his intentions clear: a Premier League switch isn’t on the cards.

In an interview with Ouest France, Mendes said:

“No. My agent spoke a lot with the president. I always wanted to continue here, to put PSG at the top level. It was on both sides that we wanted it. It’s a pleasure to play here.”

His comments bring an end to months of speculation and underline his commitment to PSG’s ongoing project under Luis Enrique.

Thriving Under Luis Enrique

Since extending his contract last season, Mendes has become a vital figure in PSG’s system — balancing defensive solidity with his trademark attacking flair.

He admitted that earlier in his career, his defensive abilities lagged behind his offensive qualities, but Luis Enrique’s coaching has helped him evolve into one of Europe’s most complete left-backs.

“At the beginning, I wasn’t very strong in defense,” Mendes acknowledged. “Luis Enrique noticed that, he helped me a lot defensively, and today I’m good on both sides.”

The result is one of the most dynamic full-back partnerships in football — Mendes on the left and Achraf Hakimi on the right — capable of stretching defenses and shutting down attacks in equal measure.

From Winger to Complete Full-Back

Reflecting on his journey, Mendes laughed about his transition from winger to defender:

“It wasn’t me who chose. It happens… But today, I feel good as a full-back — defender and attacker.”

Despite continued admiration from Manchester United, Mendes’ stance leaves little room for doubt. Paris remains home — and for now, his focus is firmly on helping PSG stay at the top of European football, not on making a move to England.
