Liverpool and Tottenham Dealt Setback in Race for West Ham Star Jarrod Bowen
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been hit with a setback in their pursuit of West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen, who remains firmly in his club’s long-term plans.
Bowen, who arrived from Hull City in January 2020, has become one of West Ham’s most influential players. The 28-year-old has racked up 250 appearances and 77 goals for the Hammers, consistently delivering high-level performances even during the team’s difficult periods.
Despite West Ham’s struggles this season — they currently sit 18th in the Premier League — Bowen has been one of their few bright spots, contributing four goals so far.
West Ham unwilling to sell Bowen
Bowen has been strongly linked with Liverpool over the past few years, especially as a potential long-term successor to Mohamed Salah. Tottenham also joined the race last summer after signing his former teammate, Mohammed Kudus.
However, both clubs appear to be facing disappointment.
According to Football Insider, West Ham have no plans to part with their star winger unless an extraordinary offer arrives — and none has been submitted to date. Bowen, who would surely be tempted by Champions League football, remains tied to West Ham until 2030, meaning any buying club would have to pay a significant fee to force negotiations.
Liverpool and Spurs eyeing alternative winger targets
Liverpool, despite strengthening their attack heavily in the summer, still hope to bring in another wide forward — whether in January or next summer. The Reds have been linked with:
- Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth)
- Michael Olise (Bayern Munich)
Tottenham, meanwhile, are exploring other options as well. Spurs have shown interest in:
- Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa)
- Iliman Ndiaye (Everton)
Bowen remains an ideal fit — but difficult to obtain
Bowen would be an outstanding addition for either Liverpool or Tottenham, but West Ham’s reluctance to sell — combined with his long contract — means a move appears highly unlikely unless a huge bid arrives.
Both clubs, however, seem prepared with alternative targets should Bowen remain at the London Stadium.
