Ekitike, Wirtz, Alisson, Bradley – Latest Liverpool Injury Updates and Predicted Return Dates Ahead of West Ham Clash
Liverpool travel to face West Ham United on Sunday as Arne Slot’s side looks to secure their first win since defeating Real Madrid on November 4 — but they head into the match with several injury concerns.
Slot remains hopeful that a number of his sidelined players could return in time for the weekend as the Reds prepare for a difficult trip to London.
Wednesday’s 4–1 loss to PSV Eindhoven marked Liverpool’s third consecutive defeat, each by a three-goal margin. The result leaves Slot’s team sitting 13th in their Champions League group standings and only slightly better off in the Premier League, where they occupy 12th place, 11 points behind leaders Arsenal.
With pressure increasing, Slot was forced to navigate the midweek fixture without several key players.
The festive period brings no relief — Liverpool are set to play four matches in just 11 days, starting with West Ham, followed by meetings with Sunderland and Leeds, and concluding with a Champions League showdown against Inter Milan.
The Liverpool Echo has provided updated information on the squad’s fitness issues and when each player could return.
Hugo Ekitike
Ekitike featured for just over an hour against PSV before being withdrawn due to a back problem. The French forward has been the most impressive of Slot’s attacking signings so far, especially with Alexander Isak still struggling for consistency.
Slot said on November 27:
“It doesn’t look like a serious problem, but with matches coming so quickly, we’ll have to see about the weekend. It shouldn’t be anything major.”
Expected return: November 30
Florian Wirtz
Wirtz has not appeared for Liverpool since returning from Germany duty, where he picked up a muscle injury. He remains in rehabilitation, though Slot is optimistic about his chances of being available.
Slot said on November 27:
“Florian will complete his final rehab session tomorrow. If all goes well, he could join the team on Saturday.”
Expected return: November 30
Alisson Becker
Liverpool’s No. 1 goalkeeper missed the PSV match due to illness. Alisson has featured just twice in the past month after being forced off early against Galatasaray in September.
Slot commented on November 27:
“Ali trained again today, so we’re hopeful he’ll be ready for the weekend.”
Expected return: November 30
Conor Bradley
Bradley hasn’t featured since the international break, during which he played twice for Northern Ireland. He has become an important figure under Slot, starting seven Premier League games following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit.
Slot said on November 21:
“I don’t expect Conor to be available for the next 22 days. Maybe toward the end, but only if something miraculous happens, which I don’t anticipate.”
Expected return: Mid–December
Jeremie Frimpong
Frimpong picked up a thigh injury in October during Liverpool’s 5–1 win over Frankfurt. His start to life on Merseyside has been difficult, with only 84 league minutes to his name.
Slot said on November 21:
“Jeremie is out for a similar amount of time. He won’t be available for the next two or three weeks either. It’ll be interesting to see who you all think should play right-back.”
Expected return: Mid–December
Giovanni Leoni
Leoni suffered an ACL injury shortly after arriving at the club. His only Liverpool appearance came in a strong showing during a 2–1 EFL Cup win over Southampton.
Slot said on September 26:
“It’s tough for him — tearing his ACL means he’ll be out for around a year. Being so young, moving to a new country, and performing well in your debut makes it hard to stay positive. But he has many years ahead of him once he recovers.”
Expected return: Late 2025
