Mohamed Salah leaves Liverpool training ground after explosive Arne Slot fallout

Mohamed Salah Returns to Training After Explosive Remarks About His Liverpool Future

Mohamed Salah was back at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre on Sunday, marking his first appearance at the club’s facilities since his fiery post-match comments about his future and his deteriorating relationship with head coach Arne Slot.

The Egyptian forward was photographed driving away from the training ground in his black Rolls-Royce, offering a brief smile to the cameras waiting outside. It was his first public sighting since his outspoken interview, which has dominated headlines and sent shockwaves through the club.

Salah’s frustrations stem from being left on the bench for a third consecutive match, remaining an unused substitute during Liverpool’s chaotic 3–3 draw against Leeds United. While Dominik Szoboszlai scored in his place, Liverpool twice surrendered their lead before Ao Tanaka’s dramatic stoppage-time equaliser.

The 33-year-old now faces mounting uncertainty about his future. He is due to link up with Egypt’s squad next week ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, while Saudi Arabian clubs are reportedly monitoring the situation closely. In his interview, Salah claimed he had been “thrown under the bus,” adding fuel to ongoing speculation.

On Sunday, he took part in a routine recovery session following the Leeds draw, as Liverpool attempt to steady the ship during a turbulent period. Speaking in the mixed zone the night before, Salah expressed his shock at how quickly things have changed between himself and Slot:

“I’ve given this club so much over the years, especially last season,” he said. “I’ve always said I had a good relationship with the manager, and suddenly we have no relationship at all. I don’t know why — but from where I stand, it feels like someone doesn’t want me here.”

He continued: “There’s no relationship between us anymore. It was very good, and now all of a sudden it’s gone.”

Liverpool now shift their attention to their crucial Champions League trip to Italy, where they face Inter Milan on Tuesday. After a damaging 4–1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven, the Reds sit outside the automatic qualification spots and risk being forced into a playoff to reach the knockout rounds.

Whether Salah will play any part remains unclear. With three straight games on the bench and his public comments still reverberating, Slot must decide if the club’s biggest star will feature in what could be a season-defining match.
