Hansi Flick not totally happy with Espanyol win: ‘In the second half we lacked pressure’

Reflecting on Barcelona’s 3-1 victory over Espanyol, Hansi Flick commented, “Derbies are always challenging. While we performed well in the first half, overall we didn’t play to our usual standard, losing too many balls, which cost us in the second half.”

Flick emphasized the importance of the victory, noting the players’ concentration, especially among the younger ones. He acknowledged that in the second half, they struggled with pressure on the ball carrier, leading to some difficulties.

Barcelona failed to score in the second half and had issues maintaining control, which likely frustrated Flick. He will probably demand an improved performance in the upcoming Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade to keep their European winning streak alive.

In response to questions about midfield depth, Flick quipped, “If we’re stacked in midfield, I’ll just play with six midfielders then.”
