Ruud van Nistelrooy praised five “excellent” Manchester United players following their 1-1 draw against Chelsea over the weekend.

United managed to secure a point at home after initially going ahead with 20 minutes remaining. Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty following a foul on Rasmus Højlund, but Chelsea equalized just five minutes later.

The team’s disappointing start to the Premier League season continues, leaving them in 13th place with only 12 points from 10 matches.

Despite this, Van Nistelrooy found positives in their performance, especially given Chelsea’s current form and the challenges facing United. He praised five players for their solid contributions, particularly in defense and midfield.

“Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs De Ligt were outstanding at the back,” Van Nistelrooy told Sky Sports, emphasizing their role in neutralizing Chelsea’s attack.

Mazraoui delivered an exceptional performance, earning the Man of the Match title, but the front three struggled to create opportunities, with United appearing lackluster in attack.

Marcus Rashford started strong but declined after switching wings with Alejandro Garnacho—a tactical change by Van Nistelrooy that raised some eyebrows.

Incoming head coach Ruben Amorim will have a lot to address when he arrives at Old Trafford, with improving the team’s scoring being a top priority.
