Nico Williams has shared how Barcelona players tried to persuade him to join the club during the summer transfer window.
The Athletic Club forward was Barcelona’s top target, but ultimately stayed at his current club instead of making the move to Catalonia.
In an interview on La Revuelta TV, Williams admitted it was a challenging period, with players like Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde constantly messaging him. He joked, “It was tough. On top of that, those ‘bastards’ Lamine, Balde, and others kept saying, ‘Come now, come now.'”
Nico also mentioned that he continues to receive messages from Barcelona fans, despite deciding against the transfer. “It’s hard to ignore,” he said. “I still get messages even though I wasn’t linked to the move. Some fans tell me ‘Go to Barca,’ while others say ‘We don’t need you anymore.'”
Ultimately, Barcelona signed Dani Olmo instead of Williams, who has since returned to prominence with his performances for RB Leipzig.
