Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has identified a replacement for star player Lamine Yamal, who is sidelined due to a serious ankle injury that kept him out of the team’s recent match against Real Sociedad. Yamal is dealing with a first-degree sprain in his right ankle and is expected to be out for two to three weeks, leaving a gap in Barcelona’s lineup.
Flick, however, has expressed admiration for 16-year-old Toni Fernandez, a left-footed playmaker, whose impressive performances in training have caught the coach’s attention. Flick believes Fernandez is one of Europe’s most promising young talents and could soon showcase his abilities with the senior team.
Although Fernandez is currently recovering from an ankle injury and won’t be available until December, Flick views him as an ideal future replacement for Yamal, whether for rest or injury cover.
