SAK RACE: Arsenal target Alexander Isak transfer but hope to land Real Sociedad striker for less than £76m release clause

Alexander Isak has responded to rumors about his future at Newcastle United, dispelling any notions of a possible move. The Swedish forward, whose impressive performances last season attracted attention from top European teams like Arsenal, reaffirmed his dedication to Newcastle in an interview with *The Chronicle*.

Although he netted an impressive 25 goals in 40 matches last season, transfer talks never gained traction over the summer and have since died down. While rumors of a “breakdown” between Isak and Newcastle have emerged, insiders at the club insist that there is no immediate need for contract talks, as his current agreement is valid until 2028.

Addressing the persistent rumors, Isak stated, “Throughout my career, I’ve never discussed or paid much attention to transfer speculation during the season. There have been many years where such talks have occurred, but it doesn’t affect me.” He further emphasized, “I am completely focused on my role at Newcastle, and I believe we have the potential for a great season. I’m not thinking about anything else.”

Isak also responded directly to the speculation, stating, “A lot of information and rumors tend to circulate, but much of what I read isn’t true. That’s all I can say about the situation.”

With five goals in 11 matches this season, the 25-year-old continues to be a vital player for Newcastle. Although Arsenal is said to still be interested in the forward, Newcastle would likely ask for more than £100 million for a transfer, a significant increase from the £63 million they paid Real Sociedad for him in 2022. For the time being, Isak seems entirely focused on helping Newcastle succeed this season, brushing off any distractions regarding his future.
