Fans convinced Man Utd star is ‘perfect fit’ and will save Ruben Amorim millions

Manchester United fans think a current player could save the club ‘millions’ after he impressed during their win over Bodø/Glimt in the Europa League.

Ruben Amorim, 39, managed his first match at Old Trafford and received a warm welcome from the Manchester United supporters in the ‘Theatre of Dreams.’

Amorim’s team had an ideal start when Alejandro Garnacho capitalized on a defensive mistake by Glimt, tapping the ball in from close range within the first minute.

However, the visitors fought back and equalized in the 19th minute when Håkon Evjen curled a brilliant shot past Andre Onana in the United goal.

Just four minutes later, the Norwegian side took the lead with a clever finish from Philip Zinckernagel.

Rasmus Hojlund, starting in place of Marcus Rashford, then controlled a cross from Noussair Mazraoui before finishing calmly, leveling the score at 2-2 as the teams went into halftime.

Hojlund put United ahead with his second goal of the match in the 50th minute, prompting fans to speculate that he might be the ‘solution’ to their ongoing goal-scoring struggles this season.

The Red Devils have also been linked with Viktor Gyökeres, the in-form striker from Sporting Club, who has scored 24 goals in 20 appearances for the Lisbon-based club. The player, who was Amorim’s top choice when he managed Sporting, is valued at around £70.7 million, according to Sporting News.

If Hojlund can maintain his current form, it could save the club a significant amount of money.

Fans shared their opinions on social media in response.

One supporter wrote, “Who needs Gyökeres when we have Hojlund?”

Another commented, “Amorim is turning Hojlund into Gyökeres, so why buy him?”

A third added, “No sane Manchester United fan would want Gyökeres when we already have Hojlund, by the way.”

A fourth fan suggested, “Hojlund might actually be our Gyökeres.”

A fifth pointed out, “Hojlund is a proper number 9. United doesn’t need Gyökeres. Develop the prospect.”

The 3-2 win moves United up to 12th place in the 36-team group stage.

They will return to Premier League action on Sunday, when they host Sean Dyche’s Everton in what will be Amorim’s first league game at Old Trafford.
