Liverpool told star player ‘is gone’ as worrying claim made about his contract hours before Man City clash

Liverpool have been told that one of their star players ‘is gone’ ahead of their clash against Manchester City.

Liverpool have been informed that one of their key players is likely to leave ahead of their upcoming match against Manchester City. On Sunday, Anfield will host the Premier League leaders, Liverpool, who are facing the defending champions, City. While City is enduring a tough patch with no wins in their last six matches, Liverpool is enjoying a strong start to the season, having only lost once so far and leading both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

However, concerns are mounting about the futures of several of their star players. Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah are all set to become free agents at the end of the season unless they reach new contract agreements. Ahead of the Liverpool vs City match, former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp suggested that Salah’s departure is all but certain. He stated in an interview with The Sun: “Even at 32, Salah would still be a valuable player if given a three-year deal next summer, as his fitness and performance won’t suddenly drop off.”

Redknapp added, “But if I were in Klopp’s shoes, I’d assume Salah is leaving at the end of the season. If he hasn’t signed by now, despite any cryptic comments, I’d say he’s gone. Liverpool had a chance to sell him last summer, but the move to Saudi Arabia fell through, which was surprising. Now, with the Bosman free transfer system in play, most of what Liverpool could have gained will go to Salah instead.”

Redknapp continued, “Salah has a choice to make. If he’s purely motivated by football, staying at Anfield makes sense. But when clubs are offering enormous amounts of money, it becomes hard to resist.

“He could have left last year but likely figured that if Liverpool were to sell him for £100m or even £200m, most of that money would be heading his way in a year’s time. So, he’s biding his time.

“In some ways, if he wins the Premier League title with Liverpool this season, it would be a perfect way for him to leave. At this point, it’s clear the uncertainty surrounding his future has been dragging on for so long that it’s almost certain he’ll be leaving.”
