According to Catalan media, Ernst Pinach, who opposed the boos directed at Frenkie de Jong by Barcelona fans during the Las Palmas match (which Barcelona won 2-0), commented that it is inappropriate for fans to boo their players, especially when they are stars going through difficult times. De Jong, who has been struggling to regain his form after a recent ankle injury, has been the target of criticism.
The media noted that Frenkie de Jong’s poor performances have continued, and interestingly, his rejection by fans began even before he touched the ball in the Las Palmas match. This negative reaction from the crowd may lead the Dutch midfielder to consider leaving at the end of the season if the situation doesn’t improve.
Further reports from Catalan newspaper Sport revealed that De Jong has reportedly made the decision to leave Barcelona, either in January or by the latest in June. The newspaper added that De Jong no longer wishes to remain at the club following the intense fan backlash this season.
