Liverpool fans are convinced Mo Salah has dropped contract hint with latest Instagram post

Liverpool fans are adamant Mo Salah dropped a contract hint on Instagram amid a fresh update shared by David Ornstein.

Salah’s contract with Premier League leaders is set to expire at the end of the season, and he caused concern among fans last month by admitting he is “probably more out than in” in a surprising statement to the media following his match-winning performance against Southampton.

The Egyptian forward revealed that he hasn’t yet received an official contract offer from the club, which means he is free to negotiate with foreign clubs for a potential free transfer.

Despite this uncertainty, Salah has continued to perform at a high level for Liverpool, scoring against Manchester City and Newcastle.

On Sunday, The Athletic’s David Ornstein provided a significant update, reporting that Liverpool had made their first contract offer to Salah. There is growing optimism that he, along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, will remain at the club. While no agreement has been finalized, fans are hopeful after Salah’s recent Instagram post.

Salah shared a video showing burning incense with white smoke, which many Liverpool supporters believe is a subtle reference to an agreement being reached. One fan remarked, “Might just be the optimist in me, but Salah posting white smoke on his Instagram story is surely not a coincidence with the contract rumors!” Others agreed, interpreting the white smoke as a sign of a deal being close.

Although Salah will turn 33 in June, he is still performing at an exceptional level, with 15 goals in 21 appearances this season. It’s been suggested that the duration of his contract has been a sticking point in negotiations, though Salah feels he can continue playing at the highest level for many more years.

Liverpool didn’t play over the weekend as their Merseyside derby against Everton was postponed due to Storm Darragh. The Reds will return to action on Tuesday, facing Girona in the Champions League.

Since joining from Roma in 2017, Salah has scored 226 goals in 370 appearances for Liverpool.
