Why Salah was absolutely fuming with two Liverpool players in extra-time v Fulham
Liverpool’s focus was unwavering as they aimed for a last-minute winner against Fulham on Saturday. However, based on the footage shared after the final whistle, this determination may have cost them two valuable points in their quest to secure the Premier League title for the first time since the 2019/20 season.
Despite the setback, Liverpool remains at the top of the table, leading second-place Chelsea by five points as they prepare for their Carabao Cup clash with Southampton.
In other positive news, Arsenal’s draw with Everton means that Liverpool could extend their lead to nine points with a victory in their game in hand.
Things could certainly be worse!
Mo Salah expressed frustration with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.
Diogo Jota deserves some leeway for his crucial goal against Fulham over the weekend, but we can certainly understand Mo Salah’s frustration in extra time when both Jota and Luis Diaz failed to spot him unmarked in the box. Footage shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @CF_Compss, courtesy of Premier League Productions, shows Salah visibly calling for the ball inside the six-yard box.
It’s particularly frustrating to watch, considering Salah had plenty of space when Diaz received the ball. Jota also had a chance to deliver a potentially game-winning assist, but he sent the ball soaring over the bar instead.
On a brighter note, Salah reached a major milestone after assisting Cody Gakpo’s first equalizer on Saturday. The Egyptian winger now has 100 career assists for Liverpool. Since his debut in 2017, only Kevin De Bruyne, Leo Messi, and Thomas Muller have more assists across all competitions.
This milestone is further proof Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, could use in contract negotiations, especially if Liverpool faces any difficulties.
