Dani Olmo’s situation has raised concerns at FC Barcelona. The most troubling aspect is that the player is furious about his circumstances.
During negotiations for his transfer to Barça last summer, he was promised that there would be no issues with his registration. However, the reality turned out to be very different. Olmo was unable to be registered and missed the first two La Liga matches.
The club was eventually able to register him due to the unexpected long-term injury of Andreas Christensen.
Laporta appears to be signaling that Dani Olmo’s time at BarΓ§a may soon be over.
Dani Olmo Could Leave Barça for Free
However, like Pau VΓctorβs, Dani Olmo’s registration with BarΓ§a has an expiration date set by the Professional Football League. By January 1st, BarΓ§a must resolve its financial fair play issues. If not, Olmo will no longer have a place on the roster.
If that happens, Olmo will be free to join any club without a transfer fee, as stipulated in his contract with Barcelona.
Since the summer, Joan Laporta has repeatedly reassured everyone that Olmo would be registered in January. But with the deadline fast approaching, no solution has been found.
Efforts like the Nike deal, selling VIP seats, shorts advertising, Laporta’s trips to Mongolia and Azerbaijan, and even Ter Stegen’s potential departure (rejected by La Liga) have not resolved the issue.
With only two weeks left, the only possible solution now may lie in a new guarantee from Laporta and his directors.
The Decision is in the Hands of a Judge
Barcelona has turned to the courts in a last-ditch attempt, without any bitterness, to resolve the situation. This means Dani Olmoβs future at BarΓ§a now hinges on a judgeβs ruling. The Commercial Court Number 10 in Barcelona will decide on December 27th whether BarΓ§a can register the player provisionally.
The club argues that Olmo has the right to work, a strategy that worked previously with Gavi, but this time the outcome may be different.
Meanwhile, Olmo, affected by the uncertainty, has seen his form dip after a strong start to the season. His close associates say, “His mind is elsewhere,” and he hasnβt ruled out leaving the club for free.
This issue is already destabilizing the locker room, especially after the recent summer transfers. Itβs becoming a topic of conversation among all the players.
Dani Olmo: Another Figo Case?
Bayern Munich has already shown interest in Olmoβs situation. At BarΓ§a, there are suspicions that Real Madrid might try to acquire him, as Florentino PΓ©rez did with Luis Figo years ago. Could he be targeting Olmo next?
Dani Olmo is struggling to understand his situation at Barça.
It’s surprising that the star signing of this summer is facing such uncertainty, especially when Joan Laporta continues to claim that the club’s financial situation is stable.
Equally surprising is the involvement of four First Division clubs, who are secretly working to ensure that BarΓ§a is harmed by this issue. These clubs have pressured La Liga to resist Laportaβs attempts and not to process Dani Olmoβs registration.
This is a 60-million euro problem. If a solution doesnβt materialize in the next 15 days, Dani Olmo could be on his way out.
