BARCELONAMan City: Haaland ‘steps up talks’ over Barcelona transfer after claims he ‘can’t stand Guardiola any longer’

Erling Haaland and Pep Guardiola may face uncertain futures at Manchester City.

Reports suggest Haaland is accelerating discussions with Barcelona as he seeks to leave Premier League champions Man City. Despite a promising start to the season, City has struggled, winning only one of their last 12 matches across all competitions.

This marks an unprecedented slump for a Guardiola-led team, with City having won the last four Premier League titles. Currently sitting seventh in the league, they are just five points ahead of Manchester United, who defeated them 2-1 in the recent derby.

A report last week indicated that Haaland, who has scored 18 goals in 24 appearances this season, is growing frustrated with his situation at City, despite Guardiola recently signing a new contract. It was suggested that Haaland no longer wants to work with Guardiola and is pushing to accelerate negotiations with Barcelona for a potential transfer.

Now, Spanish reports claim Haaland has intensified talks with Barcelona, as he grows tired of City’s poor form, the Premier League’s financial fair play case against the club, and uncertainty surrounding several players. These issues have led Haaland to contemplate a move in the next summer transfer window.

Haaland is said to have already rejected extension offers from City and has reportedly reached out to multiple clubs that could sign him. Barcelona remains one of his preferred destinations, while a move to Real Madrid is deemed unlikely due to competition from Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe. Haaland’s current aim is to secure a transfer to the Camp Nou.

In related news, Paul Pogba has been linked with a potential move to Manchester City, which has led former Man Utd striker Louis Saha to suggest that this could make the Red Devils reconsider re-signing the Frenchman. Saha stated that while he wouldn’t want Pogba to join City due to the rivalry, he could understand the career opportunity it presents, particularly with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon. However, Saha hopes the rumors are false, as he believes Pogba could still offer value to Manchester United, particularly with his ability to provide goals, assists, and creativity on the field.
