Having No Place at Barça, He Leaves: Laporta Knows and a Sale for 7 Million is Coming

Barcelona can continue to generate revenue from players for whom it owns a share of the sale. FC Barcelona has an opportunity to earn money without any active involvement. In a time of significant financial need, a chance has emerged that could bring millions into the club’s coffers. Specifically, Roma, who are interested in signing former youth player Mika Mármol, could provide this boost. Barcelona still holds 50% of his future transfer fee, and the deal appears to be progressing.

Mármol’s release clause with Las Palmas is set at 10 million euros, although Roma’s initial offer is expected to be lower. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian club is preparing a 7 million euro bid for Mármol. If the deal is finalized, Barcelona would receive half of the total amount.

This means that if Las Palmas agrees to the 7 million euro offer for Mika Mármol, Barcelona would directly receive 3.5 million euros without any effort. Laporta is keeping a close eye on this situation, as Mármol has also caught the attention of other clubs like Girona, Betis, and Como.

Not only Mika Mármol, but Laporta could also earn another 34 million euros. In recent years, Barcelona has maintained the option to keep earning money from the sales of its younger players. It looks like two deals in January could generate millions, though they aren’t finalized yet. The first involves Óscar Mingueza, whose release clause is 20 million euros, and he is expected to leave Celta soon.

Mingueza won’t be returning to Barça, as his next destination appears to be RB Leipzig. Reports suggest that the German club will trigger his release clause in the coming weeks. Barcelona will receive 10 million euros of the total amount without lifting a finger. Although there was a chance of bringing him back, Laporta’s team has never seriously considered it.

In addition to the 10 million euros from Mingueza, another deal is progressing that could financially benefit Barcelona. Liverpool has decided to firmly pursue Nico González after missing out on Zubimendi. The son of Fran, a legendary player for Super Dépor, rose through Barcelona’s youth ranks and made his first-team appearance alongside Gavi in 2023, thanks to Xavi’s trust.

Porto has set Nico González’s release clause at 60 million euros, and Liverpool is reportedly willing to meet that price. If the rumors circulating around Anfield turn out to be true, Barcelona would receive 24 million euros from the transfer. This unexpected revenue would help fill several gaps in Joan Laporta’s financial accounts.

The 10 million euros from Óscar Mingueza could be combined with another 24 million from Nico González’s sale, plus the 3.5 million euros from Mika Mármol. All of this could be achieved without Laporta needing to take any direct action.
