Chiesa’s time at Anfield has been disappointing, with his only Premier League outing as a substitute in September.
Transfer insider Graeme Bailey reports that Chiesa’s representatives have reached out to Liverpool regarding a possible return to Italy due to his lack of playing time, despite recognizing the strong form of other forwards.
Although Slot appreciates Chiesa, he understands the player’s situation and would be open to allowing him to move back to Serie A if he wishes.
Clubs such as Napoli, Roma, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Atalanta, and Fiorentina are said to be interested in a loan deal, but Liverpool would only agree if the club taking him covers the majority of Chiesa’s £150,000 weekly wages.
Since returning from injury, Chiesa has faced additional setbacks, including missing games due to illness and being left out of recent squads. With all senior forwards available, it’s unlikely he will get much playing time unless he impresses in upcoming matches.
Liverpool’s packed schedule in the coming month, with games in various competitions, could provide him a chance to prove himself if he makes the most of the opportunity. Hopefully, he can return to the form that made him stand out at Euro 2020, rather than the player who has struggled to make an impact at Liverpool.
