FOCUS ON HIM: Mikel Arteta has his eyes set on Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, with Arsenal joining two other Premier League clubs in the race for his signature!

Since Mikel Arteta took charge of Arsenal in December 2019, his leadership has driven a continuous effort to enhance the team, which has involved revamping the squad and reshaping its mentality. Even important figures like Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, who were pivotal in the early stages of his tenure, have been replaced by new additions like Kai Havertz and Riccardo Calafiori.

Arsenal is now reportedly targeting Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad to bolster their midfield. The 25-year-old, known for his adaptability in both central and defensive positions, has a release clause set at €60 million.

Zubimendi’s potential move could help resolve ongoing uncertainties regarding Thomas Partey’s future, as the Ghanaian midfielder is nearing a possible short-term contract extension.

Comparisons between Partey and Zubimendi emphasize the latter’s strengths in progressive passing, shot-creating actions, and key passes. With fewer injury issues and remarkable consistency, Zubimendi is regarded as a “world-class” talent who aligns more closely with Arteta’s long-term vision.

Although Arsenal faces competition from Liverpool and Manchester City, Zubimendi’s abilities and potential make him an attractive option to strengthen Arsenal’s midfield and maintain their competitive edge.
