Barcelona expects to return to 1:1 FFP rule – still can’t register Olmo and Victor

Barcelona is expected to revert to the 1:1 Financial Fair Play rule on Friday, January 3, 2025, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The club has secured a financial boost of €28 million through the sale of VIP seats at Spotify Camp Nou. Once the payment is received, Barcelona will submit the necessary documents to La Liga, anticipating approval to return to the 1:1 rule. This would allow them to sign players during the transfer window based on their financial capacity.

However, despite regaining the 1:1 rule and securing the €28 million, Barcelona will still not be able to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. This is because the club failed to finalize their registration before January 1, 2025. Barcelona will need to explore alternative ways to register these players, with the issue possibly being resolved in Spain’s highest court.

The positive news for Barcelona is that while the registrations of Olmo and Victor are still pending, the club will be permitted to sign and register new players during the January transfer window.

Olmo’s agent comments: “Dani wants to play football, not watch it.”
