(Video) Forget about Zubimendi: Romano says one potential Liverpool deal is ‘still a possibility’

Liverpool supporters are shocked by the recent news from Spain that Martin Zubimendi has chosen to stay with Real Sociedad. However, Fabrizio Romano has indicated that another LaLiga target for Liverpool remains a viable option.

The Reds have been rumored to be interested in Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Romano has confirmed that Liverpool could acquire the Georgian player and immediately loan him back to Valencia.

In an update on his YouTube channel this evening, Romano stated: “Liverpool are closely monitoring Mamardashvili’s situation as they explore the option of signing the Georgian goalkeeper and then loaning him out. This idea is still under consideration, and the deal remains a possibility for Liverpool. We’ll have to wait and see what decision they make.”

Given tonight’s disappointing news about Zubimendi, Liverpool fans might understandably be skeptical about the reports on Mamardashvili. The Georgian goalkeeper would be a valuable addition at Anfield, potentially as a future replacement for Alisson Becker. However, the ongoing interest in the 23-year-old suggests that Caoimhin Kelleher may not be considered the club’s first-choice keeper.

With the transfer window so far yielding little excitement, Reds supporters might be eager for any new signings by the end of August, but it will take something exceptional to offset the letdown of missing out on the Spanish midfielder.
