BRIGHTEST STONE: Bukayo Saka replacement identified as Barcelona target, Gunners star

Arsenal are anticipated to be active in the January transfer market, looking to bolster positions that currently lack depth and quality.

Bukayo Saka’s hamstring injury, which will keep him out until March, has raised concerns at the Emirates, while manager Mikel Arteta continues to face difficulties due to the absence of a dependable, high-quality center-forward.

Defensive weaknesses are also a concern, with Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu injured, leaving the team’s defense exposed. Fans are urging the club to act swiftly to narrow the gap with Liverpool, who are currently nine points ahead at the top of the Premier League.

Kudus Seen as Ideal Replacement for Saka

Arsenal’s interest in West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus is widely recognized, and it may grow stronger after Saka’s long-term injury. The Gunners have long admired the Ghanaian international and were looking into a £90 million deal for him last month, partly due to concerns about Leandro Trossard potentially moving to the Saudi Pro League.

Former Arsenal player Adrian Clarke has suggested that Kudus could be the perfect substitute for Saka. Clarke highlighted the 24-year-old’s dribbling skills and versatility, noting that Kudus could also play as a forward. He raised the possibility of Arsenal making a move for him in January.

Kudus has netted three goals and provided one assist in the Premier League this season, although his development has been affected by West Ham’s struggles under manager Julen Lopetegui.

Barcelona Watching Partey’s Contract Situation

Arsenal has several players whose contracts are set to expire next summer, including midfielder Thomas Partey. The 31-year-old joined the club in 2020 for £45 million after a standout spell at Atletico Madrid. Despite making 140 appearances for Arsenal, Partey has yet to be offered a new contract.

Barcelona are reportedly monitoring Thomas Partey’s situation, with Mundo Deportivo suggesting that the Spanish club views him as a possible replacement for Frenkie de Jong if the Dutch midfielder departs. Barcelona is especially interested in Partey’s physicality, versatility, and the possibility of signing him on a free transfer, which would be a valuable option given their financial struggles.

Arsenal is also keeping an eye on Wolves’ forward Matheus Cunha, who has been in outstanding form this season, having scored 10 goals so far. Mikel Arteta is reportedly eager to bring the Brazilian to the Emirates to boost the team’s attack.

Cunha has previously expressed admiration for former Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski, which could excite Arsenal fans about a potential transfer. In 2019, while at RB Leipzig, Cunha praised Podolski for his accomplishments, particularly his World Cup triumph with Germany, and mentioned how he was inspired by Podolski’s character both on and off the pitch.
