Fabrizio Romano responds to surprise Luis Diaz Manchester City transfer story

Transfer news journalist Fabrizio Romano has addressed the Luis Diaz-to-Manchester City rumors on X. Romano states that his sources are refuting the claims, despite reports suggesting that the Colombian international had agreed to a five-year contract with Man City, who were reportedly willing to pay €70 million for him.

Diaz is a key player for Liverpool, making it unlikely that they would let him go just days before the new season starts, especially with limited time to find a replacement. Additionally, it would be surprising for Liverpool to reinforce a major rival in this manner.

Romano has addressed the earlier reports and provided Liverpool fans with a reassuring update.

Diaz would have been a valuable addition for Manchester City, but they will likely need to seek other options to strengthen their attack, especially following Julian Alvarez’s sale to Atletico Madrid. Pep Guardiola may look for a replacement who surpasses Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku, and with Bernardo Silva aging, he might also need to be replaced in the near future.
