Liverpool handed huge boost over dream target for Arne Slot after £12m transfer agreed

Liverpool have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of a highly-rated Premier League player.

Liverpool has received a significant boost in their pursuit of a highly-rated Premier League player after a £12m transfer was agreed.

Arne Slot’s appointment as manager has seen the team perform exceptionally well, with Liverpool currently at the top of the Premier League as they prepare to face Manchester United at Anfield. They are also leading their Champions League group.

Despite the positive results, Slot, who is 46, has faced some challenges during his early time as manager, such as dealing with the contract situations of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk. Additionally, there has been concern over a lack of signings. Last summer, the only new addition to the squad was Federico Chiesa from Juventus, but he has struggled to make an impact and could be on his way out.

With the January transfer window now open, Liverpool has the opportunity to strengthen their squad. They’ve already been given a boost in their pursuit of Bournemouth’s Hungarian left-back, Milos Kerkez, who has impressed since joining the Cherries from AZ in 2023.

Kerkez, 21, could be a potential replacement for Andrew Robertson, Liverpool’s starting left-back, who has not met expectations this season.

The transfer could be impacted by Bournemouth’s interest in Lanus’ left-back Julio Soler.

Soler, 19, has reportedly reached an agreement to join Andoni Iraola’s team, with the clubs settling on a $15m (£12m) transfer fee, according to journalist Uriel Lugt.

This move might pave the way for Kerkez’s potential transfer to Liverpool.

However, TBR notes that the Soler deal is not “directly linked” to Kerkez’s situation.

Manchester United is also said to be interested in Kerkez, but the player is apparently willing to wait until the summer for a potential move.

Kerkez, who has 21 caps for Hungary, has played in all 19 Premier League matches for Bournemouth this season, contributing two assists and one goal.

His contract runs through June 2028, with a valuation of £23.2m, according to Transfermarkt.
