Liverpool has confirmed their first signing of the January transfer window, a superstar player who has drawn comparisons to Lionel Messi.

Liverpool could consider the possibility of signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia if he leaves Napoli in January, according to renowned journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic. Ornstein reports that Liverpool are interested in the Georgian winger and are closely watching his situation at Napoli.

While Liverpool are not actively pursuing Kvaratskhelia at this moment, they may explore a move if he becomes available. However, they will face competition from other top clubs like PSG and Chelsea, who are also interested in the player.

Kvaratskhelia has gained widespread attention for his performances since joining Napoli from Rubin Kazan in 2022. The 23-year-old has scored 30 goals and provided 29 assists in 107 appearances, establishing himself as one of Europe’s top attacking talents.

This season, he has netted 5 goals and 3 assists in 19 matches, bringing his career tally to 52 goals and 53 assists across all competitions (according to Transfermarkt).

Although Kvaratskhelia’s current contract with Napoli runs until 2027, the lack of progress on a new deal has piqued the interest of top European clubs.

A move to Liverpool may seem surprising given their existing options on the left wing, with Luis Díaz and Cody Gakpo already in the squad. While all three players can operate across the forward line, their primary positions overlap.

However, reports suggest Díaz has turned down a contract extension offer from Liverpool, feeling undervalued, and clubs like Barcelona have shown interest. If Díaz leaves in the summer, pursuing Kvaratskhelia would become a more sensible option.
