Frenkie de Jong’s Contract Talks Continue as His Agent Arrives in Barcelona
Barcelona’s efforts to secure Frenkie de Jong on a long-term contract extension remain ongoing, but progress has been slow due to financial constraints. The club wants to lower his salary while ensuring his future at Camp Nou, but the Dutch midfielder’s representatives are aware that a pay cut may be required.
According to Jijantes, de Jong’s agent, Ali Dursun, has arrived in Barcelona, presumably to continue discussions over a new deal. While he was set to meet sporting director Deco, the latter had to leave for Porto for personal reasons, leaving the exact purpose of Dursun’s visit unclear.
Despite the uncertainty, it’s evident that Barcelona are actively working toward an agreement, hoping to find a solution that benefits both the player and the club.
De Jong’s agent, Ali Dursun, is expected to make the most of his Barcelona visit by attending the team’s La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano on Monday.
With de Jong in good form, he is pushing for a starting spot ahead of Marc Casado. However, even if he begins on the bench, his technical quality could prove valuable in the second half if Barcelona struggle to break down Vallecano’s defense.
The next few months will be decisive as Deco and Dursun continue negotiations, aiming to strike a deal that suits both the player and the club.
