Barcelona is aiming to restore its former glory after a challenging season where they failed to secure any titles and ended up empty-handed. The rebuilding process has commenced with the appointment of German coach Hansi Flick, who is expected to lead the team back to its usual strength and navigate this tough period with minimal losses.
In a recent Sky Sports interview, French football legend Thierry Henry offered advice and made a request to both Laporta and Flick to help Barcelona ahead of the next season’s title races. Henry suggested that Laporta should not overly focus on the Neco Williams deal, as he believes Williams alone will not elevate Barcelona to the next level. Instead, Henry recommended signing Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz from Paris Saint-Germain, who is expected to leave the club this summer.
Henry argued that Barcelona’s main issue is not the attacking line but the need for a versatile midfielder. He praised Ruiz for his exceptional passing abilities, which could significantly enhance Barcelona’s midfield and create more opportunities for attackers. Henry emphasized that Ruiz would be an ideal partner for Pedri and Gundogan due to his physical prowess, height, defensive skills, and ability to excel in duels.
Henry concluded that for Hansi Flick to succeed with Barcelona, acquiring Ruiz is essential, regardless of the cost. He suggested that without Ruiz, the team might not achieve success even if they sign Williams and Olmo.
