Barcelona Goalkeeper Iñaki Peña Edging Closer to Summer Exit
Barcelona’s backup goalkeeper Iñaki Peña is reportedly on the verge of leaving the club in the upcoming summer transfer window, frustrated by his lack of playing time under Hansi Flick.
Initially, Peña seemed set for a breakthrough season, stepping in as Barcelona’s first-choice goalkeeper following Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury. However, despite a string of solid performances, Flick opted to bring in Wojciech Szczesny, pushing Peña back to the bench and limiting his chances to play.
Interest from La Liga Clubs
According to Catalan newspaper Sport, both Real Betis and Celta Vigo have expressed interest in signing Peña this summer. His contract with Barcelona runs until 2026, but given his current status as a backup, a move seems likely as he seeks regular playing time.
With Barcelona’s goalkeeping situation now favoring Szczesny and Ter Stegen, Peña may look for a fresh start elsewhere, making his departure a strong possibility when the transfer window opens.
