Tunnel footage involving Real Madrid’s superstar quartet of Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo has got fans talking.
On Sunday night, Carlo Ancelotti’s team began their La Liga title defense at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix against RCD Mallorca. Brazilian forward Rodrygo put the visitors ahead in the 13th minute with help from Mbappe and Vinicius. However, Mallorca equalized in the 53rd minute with a goal from Vedat Muriqi, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Post-match, footage from the tunnel before the second half showed Englishman Bellingham telling Mbappe, Vinicius, and Rodrygo: “You three, we need to finish our attacks because running back is really tough.”
Mbappe responded: “That’s what I’ve been saying. We need to make sure we finish with something.”
Bellingham added: “Yeah, even if it’s just creating a bit of space and taking a shot.”
After the match, Madrid coach Ancelotti commented: “Last year, I was okay with some draws, but not today. We could have performed much better. I’m not making excuses. We simply needed to improve and show more attitude. These games offer lessons, and it’s clear where we need to address the issues.”
“We began the game well, but overall it wasn’t a strong performance. We need to improve our defense and achieve better balance. We’ve mentioned this before: while we’re very offensive, finding balance is crucial.”
He added: “The issue was that the team was too exposed. We need to focus more, as we usually do. It’s not a physical or mental issue.
When we regain possession, we all need to work together. It’s not just a problem for the forwards; it affects the defense and midfielders as well. It’s a team issue that was not fully grasped in this match. Mallorca defended very well, and the draw was fair.”
Madrid will play again this weekend, hosting Real Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday afternoon.
