Liverpool have renewed their interest in Rodrygo Goes, identifying the Real Madrid winger as a prime target to bolster their attack.
The Merseyside club has been tracking Rodrygo since his teenage years and previously attempted to sign him before his move to Madrid, though the deal never materialized.
Recent comments from the Brazilian in an interview with DAZN have reignited speculation about his future. When asked if he saw himself staying at Madrid for the rest of his career, Rodrygo avoided making a long-term commitment. However, he later clarified on social media that his remarks had been misinterpreted and reaffirmed his happiness at the club.
Despite this, Liverpool could see an opportunity to lure him away, especially with Kylian Mbappe and Endrick set to arrive at Madrid, potentially limiting his role.
Rodrygo has long been considered a possible successor to Mohamed Salah on the right wing, but he could also be a valuable asset on the left, where Liverpool needs reinforcements. Luis Díaz has struggled for goals, managing just eight in the Premier League this season.
Although Rodrygo has primarily played on the right, he has shown world-class ability on the left as well. This season, he recorded 17 goals and nine assists, despite often being played out of position due to Vinicius Junior occupying the left flank. His contributions helped Madrid secure their 36th La Liga title and reach the Champions League final.
Rodrygo has built a reputation for delivering in crucial moments, scoring 20 goals in 51 Champions League appearances, including key strikes against Chelsea and Manchester City. He consistently finds himself in dangerous positions inside the box, creating scoring opportunities and troubling defenders.
If he becomes open to a move, Liverpool should be prepared to act quickly and negotiate with Madrid. While his contract runs until 2028 and includes a €1 billion release clause, the Reds could attempt to secure him for a significantly lower fee.
