Manchester City are reportedly preparing a world-record €275 million bid to sign Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, according to Fichajes.net. The 17-year-old, who has had a breakout season under Hansi Flick, has scored 13 goals and provided 19 assists in 42 games this term.
The bid would exceed the current world record transfer fee of €222 million paid by PSG for Neymar in 2017. Although Barcelona previously rejected a €200 million offer from PSG, City are testing their financial resolve with this massive offer—especially considering the club’s ongoing economic troubles.
Yamal’s current contract runs until 2026, with a reported €1 billion release clause. He is expected to renew once he turns 18 in July, and Barcelona have no intention of letting him go despite the tempting offer.
