Manchester United are close to completing their fifth major signing of the summer, with a deal thought to be ‘imminent’ following weeks of speculation.
The Reds have been quite active recently, starting with the signing of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £34 million. Soon after, Leny Yoro was acquired for up to £58.9 million. As they prepare for their Premier League opener against Fulham, defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui have joined from Bayern Munich.
United is also looking to add a No. 6 to their squad before the transfer window closes, with Manuel Ugarte being the top target. Despite initial disagreements over Ugarte’s price, a deal now seems close, with reports suggesting it will be a season-long loan with an obligation to buy.
RMC Sport adds that PSG is seeking €60 million for Ugarte, who averaged 4.6 tackles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1 last season.
In addition to the potential deal for Manuel Ugarte, United is reportedly open to offers for Christian Eriksen and Casemiro. Al Nassr is rumored to be considering a bid of up to €100 million (£85 million) for Casemiro.
Despite these rumors, Erik ten Hag praised Casemiro’s recent performance against Fulham, highlighting his crucial role in both offensive and defensive situations. “He was very important in and out of possession, organizing with smart solutions,” ten Hag said. “This is the Casemiro we all enjoy.”
Casemiro himself has expressed his satisfaction with life at Manchester United. In an interview with Sky Sports, he shared: “I feel very well, very healthy, and full of energy with the same mentality I’ve always had. I’m happy to be here, enjoying the Premier League and playing for Manchester United. This is what I wanted, and I’m enjoying every moment.”
