‼️ Federico Chiesa Exit Looms as Salah Contract Shifts Liverpool’s Plans
Inter, Napoli, and Roma circle as Anfield stint fades
Federico Chiesa’s time at Liverpool looks set to end this summer after a disappointing debut season in England. Touted as a marquee signing last summer, the Italian winger has failed to make an impact, registering only 12 appearances across all competitions and failing to start a single Premier League match.
With Mohamed Salah now signing a new contract to stay at Anfield, Chiesa’s route into the first team is firmly blocked. This has prompted serious interest from Serie A, with Inter Milan leading the race for his signature. Napoli and Roma are also in the mix, though Roma’s pursuit hinges on European qualification.
However, one major obstacle could halt a return to Italy — Chiesa’s high wages. None of the interested clubs are currently in a position to match his Liverpool salary, meaning the winger would have to agree to a pay cut if he wants to revive his career back home.
Liverpool, under incoming manager Arne Slot, are expected to take a hard stance this summer. Slot reportedly does not rate Chiesa, and with younger alternatives like Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens on the radar, a sale would free up space and wages.
While Chiesa’s Premier League venture hasn’t worked out, a return to Serie A could help him rediscover the form that once made him one of Europe’s most excitin
g wingers.
