A former Sky Sports presenter has claimed that Liverpool are ‘certain to sign’ two highly rated stars in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool Eyes Isak and Kerkez as Arne Slot Plans Summer Overhaul
With Liverpool on the brink of clinching the 2024/25 Premier League title — needing just three more points — many fans are already looking ahead to next season and what changes new manager Arne Slot will make.
Slot has hinted at a busy summer after a relatively quiet transfer window last year, with several high-profile signings expected once the window opens in June.
Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has weighed in on Liverpool’s upcoming transfer plans, stating in his blog that he believes two signings are already locked in: Newcastle striker Alexander Isak and Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.
Keys pointed out that while securing new contracts for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk is crucial, that alone won’t be enough to keep Liverpool competitive in the long term.
“I’d say this to Slot – re-signing van Dijk and Salah is NOT like signing two new players,” Keys wrote. “It’s the right thing to do, but if Liverpool are going to be competitive next season, they’ll need proper new signings. Two certs are Isak and Kerkez, but that won’t be enough either.”
A new striker has become a priority, with Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez underwhelming this season. Meanwhile, a long-term replacement for Andrew Robertson at left-back appears necessary as the veteran’s performances have dipped.
Liverpool fans can expect significant reinforcements as Slot looks to reshape the squad and build on this season’s success.
Liverpool Face Big-Spending Summer to Land Isak and Kerkez
Following standout seasons, both Alexander Isak and Milos Kerkez have become hot commodities in the upcoming summer transfer market — and Liverpool are among the clubs keeping a close eye.
Isak has lit up the Premier League with 21 goals in 30 appearances for Newcastle United, firmly establishing himself as one of Europe’s most prolific forwards. Unsurprisingly, his performances have drawn attention from many of Europe’s elite clubs.
On the defensive flank, 20-year-old Milos Kerkez has impressed with his performances for Bournemouth, emerging as one of the league’s most promising young left-backs.
However, bringing the duo to Anfield won’t come cheap. Newcastle are reportedly holding out for around £120 million for Isak, while Kerkez is expected to cost Liverpool in the region of £40 million — meaning the Reds would have to shell out over £160 million if they want to land both players this summer.
