Liverpoolâs transfer business could take an incredible turn in the next few days.
Joe Gomezâs future at Liverpool is uncertain, as he is seeking a new challenge. He was close to joining Newcastle United earlier in the summer, a move that would have sent Anthony Gordon to Anfield.
With Sepp van den Berg already having left for Brentford, Liverpool may look to sign a new centre-back if Gomez also departs. According to GiveMeSport, the club has three defensive targets in mind: Chelseaâs Levi Colwill, Bayer Leverkusenâs Piero Hincapie, and RB Leipzigâs Mohamed Simakan.
Liverpool would need to bring in another defender if Gomez leaves, as losing both him and van den Berg would significantly weaken their defensive depth. Gomez was not included in Liverpoolâs squad for their 2-0 win over Ipswich Town in the seasonâs opening match.
