Lamine Yamal didn’t hesitate naming the one player he wants Barcelona to sign

Lamine Yamal picked three players who he wishes to play alongside, including one player he wants Barcelona to sign.

Seventeen-year-old prodigy Lamine Yamal celebrated his 100th appearance for Barcelona in style on Wednesday night, delivering a standout performance in a thrilling Champions League semi-final first leg against Inter Milan.

Despite Barcelona falling behind 2-0 after early strikes from Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries, Yamal sparked the comeback with a sensational solo effort—beating two defenders down the right wing before curling a stunning shot in off the far post. It marked his 15th goal of the season and further cemented his status as a once-in-a-generation talent.

The match ended in an exciting 3-3 draw, with Yamal once again taking center stage as Barcelona’s brightest star.

Though Hansi Flick’s squad is packed with talent, Yamal revealed in a past interview with Mundo Deportivo the three players he admires most and would love to see at the club. His picks included Barcelona legend Neymar, whom he described as his idol, current Manchester City winger Savinho, and Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala—joint top scorer at Euro 2024.

When asked which of the three he’d choose to sign, Yamal surprised many by saying:
“You expect me to say Neymar… but no: Musiala, because he’s still under contract.”

Jamal Musiala left Chelsea for Bayern Munich at the age of 16 in 2019 and has since racked up 202 appearances, collecting four Bundesliga titles along the way. Despite interest from top clubs like Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Barcelona—especially due to his connection with Hansi Flick—Musiala reaffirmed his commitment to Bayern by signing a new contract until 2030 earlier this year.

Musiala and Lamine Yamal faced off in the Euro quarter-finals, where Spain edged Germany 2-1 in extra time thanks to Mikel Merino’s late winner. Prior to the clash, Musiala praised Yamal’s exceptional rise and maturity at such a young age.

“To be playing at this level at 16 is incredible,” Musiala told Sky Sports. “At that age, I didn’t even have the physical tools to train with the first team. For him to not only compete but excel is really special.”
