Liverpool’s current centre-back options will have to suffice ahead of a meeting with Brentford.
Jarell Quansah is a potential injury concern ahead of the match against Thomas Frank’s side. According to Paul Gorst of The Echo on X (formerly Twitter), the English defender missed the latest training session at the AXA Centre.
Currently, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Joe Gomez are the available center-back options. If necessary, the team might have to turn to academy players. Nat Phillips is still part of the squad, but relying on either a fifth-choice option or inexperienced young players is not ideal.
While we understand the club’s need to create more space in the squad, especially after Sepp van den Berg’s move to Brentford, we believe that the injury histories of both Konate and Gomez suggest a need for some flexibility.
This issue may seem minor and not severe enough to cause major concern, but it appears Liverpool is taking a risk that could be avoided.
