Man Utd ‘open talks’ over stunning swap deal that nobody saw coming as ‘sensational package’ discussed

Manchester United have reportedly opened talks over a sensational swap deal ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline day.

This summer, players such as Joshua

Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui have all transferred to Old Trafford. Additionally, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte is reportedly nearing a move to Manchester United.

With the transfer window closing soon, United is said to be pursuing another major acquisition. Earlier this month, Raheem Sterling’s situation at Chelsea became uncertain when he was omitted from the squad for a match against Manchester City. Following this, Sterling’s representatives issued a statement about his future.

Since then, the 29-year-old has been linked with several clubs, including Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and the Saudi Professional League. However, on Tuesday afternoon, reports suggested that United might be considering a move for Sterling.

According to The Telegraph, United have initiated discussions with Chelsea about a potential deal involving Sterling, which would also see Jadon Sancho move in the opposite direction. The report indicates that United’s sporting director, Dan Ashworth, was negotiating with Chelsea about a deal that could see the two English forwards swap clubs, with United aiming to secure Sterling without additional financial expenditure.

United kicked off their 2024/25 Premier League season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Fulham at Old Trafford but were defeated 2-1 by Brighton and Hove Albion over the weekend.

After the game, Erik ten Hag commented: “We have good potential, but we need to maintain our efforts until the final whistle. In the Community Shield against Manchester City, we conceded almost at stoppage time, and now we’ve done the same here. The game is over only when the referee blows the final whistle, and we need to manage that better. We must improve our game management.”
