Barcelona has entered serious negotiations in recent hours to sign one of Arsenal’s top stars, following a direct request from Hansi Flick!

Barcelona Target Arsenal’s Thomas Partey as Summer Overhaul Begins

Barcelona’s leadership, under president Joan Laporta, is preparing for an ambitious summer transfer window as part of a broader strategy to reinforce the squad and accelerate the club’s ongoing rebuilding efforts. The ultimate objective is clear: reclaiming their place at the top of European football and ending their UEFA Champions League title drought, which stretches back to 2015.

Although the team has shown progress, club officials recognize that further reinforcements are needed across the pitch — in defense, midfield, and attack — to give new head coach Hansi Flick a squad capable of competing with Europe’s elite.

According to recent Spanish media reports, Barcelona have entered serious talks to sign Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey. The 31-year-old Ghanaian international is in the final month of his contract, and while Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has publicly expressed a desire to keep him, no extension has been finalized.

British outlet The Sun reports that Barcelona have initiated discussions with Partey’s representatives regarding a potential free transfer. The club sees the experienced midfielder as a financially sensible option, and Flick is reportedly a long-time admirer of the former Atlético Madrid player.

Despite Barcelona’s interest, Partey is said to favor remaining at Arsenal, largely due to his strong rapport with Arteta. However, he is seeking a contract renewal that maintains his current salary level, aware this may be his last major deal. Meanwhile, he has also drawn interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

Partey joined Arsenal in 2020 for £45 million, but his spell in North London has been disrupted by recurring injuries.
