Barcelona star Pedri has let slip the identity of the club’s first signing this summer – Joan García, the highly-rated goalkeeper from Espanyol.
Speaking in an interview, Pedri said with confidence:
> “Joan García? He’s coming to the greatest club in the world. I wish him the very best.”
Though Barça haven’t made an official announcement yet, the deal is reportedly close to completion. The Catalans are expected to trigger García’s €25 million release clause as they prepare to reinforce their squad.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper has been impressive for Espanyol, drawing interest from England as well, but Barcelona have moved quickly to secure him as a potential long-term replacement or competition for Marc-André ter Stegen.
This move signals Barcelona’s intent to strengthen their depth and prepare for a new era of domestic and European ambition. Joan García’s signing is expected to be made official in the c
oming days.
