Pedri surprises Blaugrana fans and reveals the first signing of the Catalan club in the summer transfer window.

As Barcelona continues its mission to reclaim its status among Europe’s elite football clubs, the team is preparing bold moves in the upcoming summer transfer window. Determined to return to prominence on the European stage—especially after several years without Champions League glory—the Catalan giants are looking to refresh and reinforce their squad.

In a surprise to fans, Barcelona midfielder Pedri revealed the club’s first signing of the summer: young goalkeeper Juan Garcia. The 24-year-old impressed last season with Espanyol, catching the eye of Barça scouts with his standout performances in La Liga.

Quoted by Football España, Pedri expressed his support for the move:

“Juan Garcia is joining the best club in the world, and I wish him all the best in this new stage.”

He went on to add:

“Garcia has great abilities, but since he’s not officially part of the team yet, there’s not much more I can say.”

Pedri also noted that if Garcia does join, he would assure him that Barcelona is the best place to play.

The club views Garcia as a key part of its future plans, particularly with current goalkeepers Marc-André ter Stegen and Wacchini nearing the later stages of their careers. Garcia is expected to be integrated into the club’s long-term project.

The Spanish keeper, under contract with Espanyol until June 2028, was promoted to their first team in 2021. Since then, he has made 67 appearances, conceding 72 goals and registering 21 clean sheets.
