Barcelona star informs the management of his desire to leave before the end of his contract after losing confidence in Hans-Dieter Flick’s project!

Barcelona is gearing up for a new season marked by significant technical and administrative shifts, with German manager Hansi Flick remaining in charge of the team. The club’s leadership appears committed to overhauling the starting squad, especially in key areas that led to internal conflicts last season.

Amid these changes, one of Barcelona’s players is preparing to depart the club ahead of his contract’s official end date in June 2026.

Spanish goalkeeper Iñaki Peña has expressed his intention to leave after losing his starting spot to Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny. Peña had stepped up as the main goalkeeper following an injury to Marc-André ter Stegen, but the arrival of Szczęsny—along with Ter Stegen’s recovery and the signing of Juan Garcia from Espanyol—has pushed him down the pecking order.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Peña is dissatisfied with his reduced role and is seriously considering a transfer this summer instead of waiting until his contract ends. He prefers to stay within La Liga, and Barcelona is open to selling him quickly.

Peña has already notified the club of his decision to leave, even if it means forfeiting a loyalty bonus tied to completing his contract. Celta Vigo is reportedly among the clubs interested in signing him soon.
