David Alaba has made up his mind about his future at Real Madrid

David Alaba has firmly decided to stay at Real Madrid, and that won’t change, no matter what happens at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

While the futures of several Real Madrid players remain uncertain and with Xabi Alonso expected to make important decisions after the tournament, Alaba has reportedly made it clear to the club that he plans to stay for the next season. His contract runs until 2026, and despite speculation about a possible early departure or a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, Alaba seems intent on fulfilling his current deal.

This move ends the uncertainty that once hinted at a possible exit. The Austrian international is resolved to remain and compete for his spot, even amid tough internal competition.

After a long-term injury disrupted his 2024–25 season, Alaba has found it challenging to return to top form since coming back in early 2025. With new talents like Dean Huijsen joining the squad and seasoned defenders such as Rüdiger, Militao, and Asencio already established, securing a regular starting place will be difficult.

Nonetheless, Xabi Alonso might consider deploying Alaba in alternative roles — possibly as a pivot or full-back. While those positions aren’t his main strengths anymore, his versatility and experience could make such a transition feasible. However, a past experiment by Ancelotti to play him wide against Arsenal didn’t yield good results, so Alonso will need to assess the best fit carefully.

What’s clear for now is that David Alaba has no plans to leave Madrid this summer. He’s committed to the club and ready to contribute in any way he can.
