Liverpool Enter Talks to Sign Lyon Star Malick Fofana Amid Summer Splash 🧨🔴
Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of highly rated winger Malick Fofana — despite already making serious moves for Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez this summer.
With Wirtz set to undergo a medical on Friday, per David Ornstein, and Milos Kerkez’s transfer from Bournemouth looking like a “done deal” according to his father, sporting director Richard Hughes isn’t done yet.
🔥 Fofana Talks Underway
According to L’Equipe, Liverpool have already begun discussions with the 20-year-old’s representatives at Roc Nation — the same agency that looks after Vinícius Jr, Gabriel Martinelli, Endrick, and Kevin De Bruyne. Chelsea, Manchester United, and Nottingham Forest are also circling for the Lyon winger.
Financial-strapped Lyon have slapped a €50m (£42.7m) price tag on Fofana after a breakout campaign — 11 goals and 6 assists in 41 appearances — making him one of the most exciting young talents in Europe.
⚡️ Why Fofana?
Fofana is electric in one-vs-ones and progressive carries. FBref data places him in the top 2% of wingers across Europe’s top five leagues for carries per 90, and Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig has praised him as a “dynamic dribbler with serious end product.”
Although Liverpool already have Cody Gakpo and Luis Díaz for the left flank, persistent rumors about Díaz’s future mean the Reds could look to secure Fofana now — especially with multiple Premier League giants also interested.
With Liverpool clearly entering the summer window in aggressive mode under new manager Arne Slot, Malick Fofana could be yet another exciting addition for a club determined to stay one step ahead of their rivals.
