Sky journalist: Liverpool are still ‘highly interested’ in the Bundesliga star, but one condition must be met first.

Liverpool remain ‘seriously interested’ in Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike this summer — but any move is entirely dependent on Darwin Núñez’s future at Anfield.

Napoli have reportedly set their sights on Núñez, who has struggled to consistently shine since his high-profile switch from Benfica in 2022.

According to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg (via X), Liverpool are prepared to let Núñez leave if the right offer arrives, valuing the Uruguayan at around €50 million (£42m) plus bonuses. That figure is roughly half of what Eintracht Frankfurt want for Ekitike.

With Manchester United and Chelsea also linked to the French striker — who notched 22 goals and 12 assists across all competitions last season — Ekitike looks to have no shortage of Premier League suitors. The player himself is reportedly eager to make the switch to England, though it’s not yet clear if Liverpool will be prepared to spend big again this summer.

The Reds have already invested heavily, spending around £150m on Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. A £40m deal for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez is also close to being finalised.

While Liverpool are committed to bolstering their squad for a competitive challenge on all fronts, a move for Ekitike will hinge on Núñez’s decision — making the next few weeks potentially decisive.
