Mikel Arteta’s summer clear out at Arsenal is official over for now.
The Gunners have recently seen high-profile departures including Emile Smith Rowe, Aaron Ramsdale, and Eddie Nketiah. In addition, players like Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira, and Albert Sambi Lokonga have left on loan.
Now, another exit has been confirmed, with defender Omar Rekik leaving the club by mutual agreement. According to Fabrizio Romano, Rekik, who has not made a first-team appearance, requested to have his contract terminated. The 22-year-old is now ready to start a new chapter in his career.
Rekik, who had stints with Feyenoord, Manchester City, and Arsenal as a youth, has been loaned out to five different clubs, including two periods with Wigan Athletic where he made 25 appearances.

Brazilian goalkeeper Neto joined from Bournemouth, and a loan deal for Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling was also completed. Mikel Arteta expressed satisfaction with the summer acquisitions, highlighting Sterling’s potential impact on the team.
“We need to talk to him, understand what he’s been doing and how he’s feeling,” Arteta said about Sterling, who was brought in on loan from Chelsea. “We have to find quick wins to get him up to speed and to grasp what we need from him. We’ll involve him as soon as we can.”
In addition to Neto and Sterling, Arsenal also signed David Raya, Riccardo Calafiori, and Mikel Merino, though Merino has already suffered an injury. He fell awkwardly during a training session and will be sidelined for a significant period.
