Liverpool have been busy already in the 2025 summer transfer window. It has been a remarkable show of intent from Arne Slot’s team, who, as defending champions, are making a clear step towards strengthening their side to defend the Premier League next season

Liverpool’s Ambition Undimmed as They Target Alexander Isak

Despite already shattering records with the signing of Florian Wirtz, Liverpool appear far from finished in the transfer market. New reports suggest the reigning Premier League champions are eyeing another major addition — Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Isak Becomes Top Priority for Liverpool

According to Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele, Liverpool remain seriously interested in Isak, even though Newcastle are reluctant to sell. Steele notes a move can’t be ruled out, despite Newcastle’s valuation of over £130–£140 million — a fee that would surpass the £119 million Liverpool recently spent on Wirtz.

Further reporting from TEAMtalk claims Isak is now Liverpool’s number one target up front, with manager Arne Slot eager to add a top-tier, natural No. 9 to his attacking ranks.

Why Isak Fits the Bill

At 25, Isak is quickly becoming one of Europe’s top centre-forwards. He netted 23 Premier League goals and contributed six assists last season, playing a key role in Newcastle’s Champions League qualification. Only Mohamed Salah had more total goal contributions.

Liverpool fans know Isak’s danger well — he’s scored four goals and added an assist in six matches against them, including one in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup final win over the Reds in 2025.

Wirtz-Isak Combo Could Be Lethal

Supporters are already excited about a potential partnership between Isak and Wirtz. The German playmaker, who racked up 16 goals and 15 assists last season, is renowned for his creativity and could form a devastating link with Isak.

A memorable assist against RB Leipzig — where Wirtz dribbled past his marker and delivered a perfect pass for a goal — has fans dreaming of similar plays at Anfield with Isak on the receiving end.

Statistically, Isak is deadly in front of goal, converting 46% of his shots on target — a mark of elite finishing.

A Costly Deal, but a Clear Signal

If Liverpool manage to sign Isak, their summer transfer spending would reach historic levels. But few would question the ambition behind it. As football analyst Statman Dave noted, “Isak is one of Europe’s finest strikers.”

With Wirtz already secured, bringing in Isak would elevate Liverpool’s attack even further — potentially making them the dominant force in the Premier League once again.

One thing’s for sure: Liverpool are making their intentions crystal clear.
